Microsoft has released a small dashboard Update for the Xbox 360, however it isn't what you are thinking.
Talking on his blog, Major Larry Nelson stated that the update is purely to "prepare for future growth of the service" and does nothing but move some scenery around behind the curtains.
The major overhaul which will introduce avatars and a whole new dashboard system is stated to arrive in Autmun 2008 which could be as late as November.
