Ubi goes silver screen

Ubisoft has purchased visual effects studio Hybride Technologies, the very company that was responsible for work in both Sin City and 300.

The publisher is set to share resources, technology and develop tools with the 80 man team in order to;
"offer gamers visual experiences that rival those of the cinema."

As well as this, Hybride will continue to work with its film partners, presumably in an attempt to push Ubi's IP's into the Hollywood limelight.
"The future of our industry depends on our ability to create brands that captivate audiences and to extend those brands to other forms of entertainment," said Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot on the deal.

"The acquisition of Hybride falls directly into the strategy that has already led us to open a digital creation studio in Montreal and to acquire the Tom Clancy brand for video games and ancillary products."

Ubisoft's Prince of Persia movie, helmed by screen explosion legend Jerry Bruckheimer, is due out next summer. There's been no mention if Hybride will be on effects duties.
