Grid compo

A demo of Race Driver: Grid appeared today on Xbox live and will do so on the Playstation Network later today. Included is a time trial option, who ever posts the best time will win a BMW 3-series.
Instead of Codies just keeping an eye on the leaderboards though, you have to submit your fastest time through the official site. Then they authenticate it, and the top five players at midnight on Friday, May 23 will compete in a finalists play-off.

Codies will lob the vroom vroom to whoever wins the head-to-head races at the final in the Zavvi Store on Oxford Street, London, on the game's May 30 launch day.

GTA 4 is a liscence to print money

Rockstars parent company Take-Two have announced today that GTA IV has grossed over $500 million in sales in its first week. If that wasnt big enough they also announced that they 6 million copies have been sold so far, with 3.6 million selling on the first day alone.

This news means that GTA IV has smashed all previous records for Dollar sales in one day and one week, the previous holder was Bungie's Halo 3 which grossed a whopping $300 million in its opening week (although this was only on one format).
"We knew Grand Theft Auto IV would break new ground in terms of the player's experience, with its compelling story line, extraordinary gameplay and action that ranges over a broad urban canvas. Now, it has broken sales and rating records as well", said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two.

"Grand Theft Auto IV's first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment, and we believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date. We congratulate the entire Rockstar team on creating a must-have experience that takes the legendary Grand Theft Auto franchise to a new level".
So there you go, Take-Two are once again stinking rich. Anyone wonder why EA wanted to acquire Take-Two a few weeks back.

Killzone 2 delay till 2009

In what seems to be a growing trend for the Playstation 3 games it has been announced today at "Playstation day" that Killzone 2 will not see a release until February 2009, as opposed to the late 2008 date that was set before the news.

Killzone 2 is currently playable at "Playstation day" so news of its delay may surprise some people, nether the less as one of Sony's biggest upcoming titles and as an in-house project (1st party as opposed to 3rd) Sony will no doubt want the game to be as perfect as possible.

Killzone 2 is set for release in February next year, no announcement of a demo has been made as of yet but don't be surprised if one appears in the next few months.

Boourne demo

A demo for the much anticipated "Bourne conspiracy" is online now. The game which is based on the movies and books written by Robert Ludlum has had fans of the trilogy on tender hooks for months, with new snippets of information slowly emerging every few weeks. Well today is the day that those eager fans have been waiting for as the demo has hit Xbox Live...ish.

The demo is on Xbox live (Microsoft clearly wishing to pip sony to the post here) but its only on the American version so far. Further more its only available through a gold account so anyone Europeans out there hoping to give it a bash will unfortunately have to wait. A European version has been promised to release next week, along with Sony releasing it on the Playstation store in the next few coming days.

The full game hits shops June 27th this year so if you cant get your hands on the demo it wont be the end of the world.

Siren: Bloody Curse

Siren 3, the much anticipated sequel to the Japanese "scare your pants off" horror series has recently been in the Gaming spotlight with the emergence of several new videos, lots of screenshots and most importantly a playable demo on the Japanese Playstation store.

However, the recent flurry of Siren related news doesn't stop there. It would appear that the previous name "Siren: New translation" didn't quite do it for the developers (or maybe sony) because it has been announced today that the new Official name is "Siren: Bloody Curse.

Siren: Bloody Curse has yet to be announced for an official release out of Japan, here's hoping that the new name is a sign of a European and US release is also on the cards.

Rubiks world

With Nintendo's "Casual" Gaming policy proving to be somewhat of a financial success (even if the games do suck) its not a surprise that every development team and their dog are jumping onto the Wii Bandwagon.

Rubik's World, from developers Two Tribes (Worms open warfare 2) is apparently a game for anyone who wondered what the inside of a Rubik's cube looked like (if these people actually exist that is).
"Using TARDIS-like technology, the cubes contain entire 3D worlds, each made up of unique and original puzzles.

Players will be able to construct 3D shapes and objects, navigate through mazes and even create their own soundtracks.

The DS version will be supported with an online community that players can wirelessly connect to, and the Wii version can support up to four people and will feature an online message board".
Rubik's World is expected sometime this Autumn.
