Fifa 09 - 50,000 combinations of tactics

EA has been talking about its new feature for Fifa 09, customisable tactics, stating that the game will feature 50,000 different combinations of tactics to use.
"there are roughly 50,000 possible combinations. That's not really doing it justice. The point is there are over 40 different defensive ways to play and over 500 attacking ways."

In case you're not up to speed, the system works with a series of sliders "incorporating key parts of the team dynamic - aggression, mentality, positioning, etc". You can even assign four of your own custom plans to the D-pad and switch them mid-match.

"You can totally change the way your team plays, and apply it during the match. Every game is going to be different,"

"A long passing game isn't just about hitting the ball long. We've changed the support play so your midfield needs to be further up the pitch, looking for the long ball to be knocked down for them to run on to. In a short game, the team pushes together and is more compact to allow short passes to be played.

"But the AI will do it too, so if you play Man Utd and they go a goal down, they're gonna change to try to get a goal back."
Sounds great, the franchise has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years, and is really starting to set the standards for the competition to meet. I personally hope the game plays a little more like UEFA EURO 2008 than to Fifa 2008, the gameplay style of the really works well.

The full game is set to launch on June (friday) 13th and is currently set to appear on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Online prices for the ps3 and xbox 360 versions are around the £30 mark so this could turn out to be well worth a purchase.

New DS lite colours

Nintendo has released a few more pictures of the lovely new Nintendo DS Lite consoles Europe will be getting. Usually Nintendo dont send nice stuff like this our way but this seems to be an exception to the rule.

The three new consoles come in Green, Red and Blue as you can see from the screenshots, personally i think that Red one looks ace, if i hadn't just sold my DS id consider buying it.

No release date has been set yet but expect to see the new consoles around Christmas time id guess.

Bourne ps3 installs another pain

It appears that more and more games for the ps3 are requiring mandatory installs, what you once thought was a large hard drive that you'd never fill up is now slowly starting to strain with all these game installs.

If like me you still have your bog standard ps3 hard drive you will be upset to hear that the Bourne Conspiracy will be another game to require an install of 5GB.

Already games like Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry and Metal Gear Solid 4 have 5 GB installs, not to mention the whopping 6GB that GT5:Prologue takes up.

If you are planning on getting the Bourne Conspiracy then you may need to do a little spring cleaning of your ps3's hard drive.

Warhawk DLC soon

Sony have announced that they are going to bundle the current two Warhawk download packs (Omega Dawn and Operation Broken) into one download package.

The two packs have proven very popular with fans so a new one seemed likely to happen at some point. The two packs were originally priced at £3.99 each, the bundle containing both packs will cost a very nice £4.99.

Sony haven't announced a release date for this bundle though, its still down as "TBC", the likely release date will probably be sometime this month.
